WIRED's report on the Pentagon using short videos to speed AI buys shows how procurement is changing as defense agencies try to absorb fast-moving software.
That speed has a tradeoff. AI tools can affect targeting, intelligence, logistics, and command workflows, so buying faster has to be matched with evaluation that is deeper than a polished vendor pitch.
The issue to watch is whether military procurement can become faster without becoming thinner. When AI enters high-stakes systems, the evidence behind the purchase matters as much as the promise.
