TechRepublic's report on data-center opposition adds a practical dimension to the AI infrastructure boom: communities are starting to push back on the physical cost of compute.
That matters because AI capacity is not created by GPUs alone. Power availability, grid upgrades, cooling, permitting, and local acceptance all determine whether announced capacity becomes useful capacity.
The next phase of AI infrastructure will reward companies that can pair compute ambition with credible community and energy strategies. Otherwise, demand for models will keep running into the limits of place.
