If researchers can model how AI systems interact with people and organizations, they may be able to test policy ideas, misinformation dynamics, labor shifts, or service bottlenecks before they become real-world failures.
The risk is false confidence. Simulations can clarify assumptions, but they can also hide the complexity of human behavior behind neat outputs. The field will matter most if it is used to ask better questions, not to pretend messy societies are solved.
